Iron is an integral part of many proteins and enzymes that maintain good health. Iron is an essential component of proteins involved in oxygen transport and the regulation of cell growth

What happens if I have a deficiency in iron?
The World Health Organization considers iron deficiency the number one nutritional disorder in the world. Signs include anemia, slow cognitive, difficulty maintaining body temperature, decreased immune function, and glossitis (an inflamed tongue).

What happens if I have excess iron?
There is considerable potential for iron toxicity because very little iron is excreted from the body. Excess iron can lead to nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Greatly excess iron can damage internal organs and be deadly.
